Methods of Carpet Cleaning and Equipment.
STEAM CLEANING (HOT WATER EXTRACTION) Sunset Method....
The term steam cleaning is derived from the original concept of the
equipment first utilized in the steam extraction process. The airflow
used is measured in CFM (cubic feet per minute) indicating how much air
volume is moved per minute. Truck mounts compared to portables seem to
work great if worked properly by the technician. most people believe
that a truck mount can out perform anything else but it really comes
down to the pre-treatment and experience of the technician. The process
of steam cleaning includes the injection of a hot cleaning solution
under pressure while extracting at the same time. I believe that this
style of carpet cleaning is the only true method of deep cleaning your
carpet. The practice of pre conditioning should be utilized in all
instances of heavy soiled areas and
an enzyme to break down bacteria and food stains.
Advantages
Steam Cleaning is recognized by most professionals, carpet manufacturers
and fiber producers as today's preferred method for the most efficient
soil removal. present state of the art equipment enables high rates of
production and less residue, provided proper chemicals (we prefer all
natural green) are used.
DISADVANTAGES
Requires high level of operator skill and longer drying times (we
recommend using an air dryer)
High equipment and maintenance costs A know how of reducing temperatures
and psi volume specific to carpets.
DRY FOAM SHAMPOO
Dry foam carpet cleaning is a version of the
shampoo method. the tem "dry" is to describe a low amount of liquid
usually a 10% liquid to 90% air. It uses special equipment that whips up
the shampoo liquid into a foam before its applied to the carpet. Some
dry equipment is also equipped with a vac system that recovers the foam
and sucks it up.
Advantages:
fast drying times
Minimal skill needed
Looks clean on top surfaces
covers large areas fast
low moisture levels
Disadvantages
Moderate level of soil removal
little or no extraction capability
periodic hot water extraction is needed after the fact with dry
vacuuming
ROTARY EXTRACTION (SHAMPOO EXTRACTION)
A newer way of extracting soil using a rotary machine. There is many
benefits to using this type of method it takes advantage of both rotary
shampooing and steam cleaning. Rotary extraction, with its simultaneous
foam generation and vacuum extraction, will remove the soil while it is
still in suspension.
Advantages
Labor consolidation while converting two steps into one. Superior soil
removal by operating within the limited timeframe of soil suspension.
fast drying times usually within 1-1.5 hours and works well on
commercial carpets.
Disadvantages
It is bound by limitations of rotary shampooing as a whole. Operator
skill and chemicals will determine how effective this system will work.
certain carpet fibers (saxony, berber and fine silk area rugs) need to
be closely analyzed before using this system.
